IMPROVER partners spent two sun-filled days in Barreiro, Portugal with our living lab partners in order to see first-hand the municipal water network as well as to discuss communication practices and hold an expert elicitation.
IMPROVER partners were welcomed by Barreiro Municipal Water Management living lab partners Rui Teixeira, David Cabanas, and João Soares.
A productive discussion on communication with the public was held, followed by technical discussion with the goal of developing different disaster scenarios.
The next day, IMPROVER partners were welcomed by Sofia Martins, the Deputy Mayor of Barreiro, for a tour of the city’s fresh and waste water network.
After a delightful fondue lunch, a visit to the local museum explaining Barreiro’s rich industrial history took place.
The day ended with a press conference where Project Coordinator David Lange explained the IMPROVER project goals. The Mayor of Barreiro was also present and welcomed this opportunity to collaborate on the IMPROVER project.
A big thanks to the Municipality of Barreiro for their very warm welcome and a successful meeting!
